Company History
A brief history of the O'Regan Group
The O'Regan Group started in the sand & gravel business over 100 years ago.
The first gravel pit to open was in Blarney County Cork. The need for aggregates in the area at the time was great and from there they developed different quarries within the Cork Region.
The quarries produced a wide range of products to high specifications and were very much involved in the huge Road Building programmes in Cork at this time.
The need for high quality building materials grew; so the O'Regan Group invested in the construction market producing good quality concrete building blocks. The production systems available at the time were very time consuming and very labour intensive; all of the blocks were produced by hand in single moulds.
In the late sixties the O'Regan Group joined up with Sisk of Cork and formed O'Regan Precast Limited they had operations in Cork & Dublin. The first automated precast production plant was installed and the outputs soared to supply the ever growing construction markets.
In 1978 O'Regans opened a new Block Making facility in Coachford County Cork they also moved to Tipperary, Limerick Waterford and Clare. The installed block production facilities were virtually self sufficient. All of the aggregates were quarried and screened on site and fed to the batching plants. The moulds automatically filled and the blocks fed down the production line to cure.
